The Storehouse Hosts Young Professionals Social

On Friday, December 8, the Easley-Powdersville Young Professionals met at The Storehouse at 5 Point Church. All attendees got to socialize with other YPs, learn about The Storehouse, and enjoy breakfast from Iron Horse Steamers.
At the social, Lesa Howard, Director of The Storehouse, and Pastor Lawson Clary of 5 Point Church led the group on a tour of The Storehouse building. They also shared their history and plans. Their journey to a food pantry all started when one person showed up at 5 Point Church asking for help and was given a 5 dollar bill since no programs were in place. Then more people kept coming in and 5 Point Church saw a need to start a food pantry which eventually evolved into The Storehouse. Now, The Storehouse is the second largest food pantry in Upstate SC and feeds over 34,000 people a year. And there are plans to continue to evolve into phase two which will add more community resources for greater outreach.

The Storehouse serves those who are at or below 130% of the Federal Poverty Level. The market is by appointment only and is open on Tuesdays from 2 PM to 8 PM and Thursdays from 8 AM to 2 PM. On Wednesdays, it is open from 8 AM to 8 PM for seniors only (60+). No senior is turned down and they each get a box which is sponsored by the Department of Agriculture. They also have two drive-throughs on the 1st Tuesday of each month at Newspring Powdersville and the 3rd Saturday at The Storehouse.

To participate in the program, you must be at or below 130% of the Federal Poverty Level. To get started, you can fill out an assistance form here. For questions call (864) 920-3663 or email info@thestorehouseeasley.org.
