As part of the Greater Easley Chamber of Commerce 76th Annual Meeting & Awards Celebration on March 14, Cindy Hopkins, President of the Greater Easley Chamber of Commerce, was honored as the recipient of the 2024 Duke Energy Citizenship and Service Award. Sponsored by Duke Energy, the Duke Energy Citizenship and Service Award pays tribute to an individual who uses their time, talent and compassion to positively affect the lives of others in their community or in the workplace. Recipients foster a culture of citizenship and service that acts as a catalyst for others to become involved in civic and social activities. Trent Acker, District Manager of Duke Energy Carolinas, recognized Cindy Hopkins’ service to the Easley chamber and community. Cindy has served as President of the Greater Easley Chamber of Commerce since June 2012. Prior to her current position, she served as Executive Vice President of the Anderson Area Chamber of Commerce for 10 years and Foothills United Way in Anderson for three years in areas of resource development and community initiatives. In addition, she worked in the banking industry for 12 years before beginning her career in non-profit management. A native of Anderson County, Cindy graduated from Crescent High School and earned her bachelor’s degree in Administrative Management from Clemson University. Professionally, she holds an IOM designation from the U.S. Chamber of Commerce. Additionally, she is a graduate of Diversity Leadership Initiative at The Riley Institute of Furman University, Leadership South Carolina, Leadership Pickens County, and Leadership Anderson. During her 22-year chamber of commerce career, Cindy has served the community through her leadership on a variety of boards and advisory committees including Carolinas Chapter of the Association of Chamber of Commerce Executives Board of Directors, Ten at the Top Board of Directors, Goodwill Industries Upstate Board of Directors, Pickens County Career & Technology Center Advisory Board, Leadership Pickens County Board of Regents, Baptist Easley Hospital Community Advisory Board, American Red Cross Upstate Board of Directors, Keep America Beautiful of Anderson County Board, Anderson University Women’s Council, and a founding member of the Women’s Leadership Council at United Way of Anderson County.
