Thank you to all who attended our Young Professionals Social last week and thank you Family Promise of Pickens County for hosting us on the recently completed patio by the Leadership Pickens County Class XXXII. Special thanks to Gilstrap Roofing for sponsoring breakfast and refreshments for attendees to enjoy as they networked with one another. At the social, owner, Brian, and VP, Tasha Gilstrap, asked a question to the group: what is the strangest thing you have seen on a roof? One of the answers was that a homeowner was notified his insurance would not cover their roof because a drone was flown over and it spotted shadows which indicated mold. That situation was solved and Gilstrap Roofing shared that they do a lot of roofing work through insurance claims (about 60%). Gilstrap Roofing uses quality materials and proven techniques to perform everything from routine repairs to complex new roof installations. You can even take advantage of their free roof inspections and free storm analysis to evaluate the condition of your roof. From there, they will recommend a service plan. To sweeten the deal, during their roof analysis, they will inspect your current roof for any signs of wind or hail damage and if any such damage is found on your shingle roof, they will notify you and will help you with the insurance claims process. It’s that easy! Now, our host, Nath Briley, Executive Director of Family Promise of Pickens County shared the story of how it all started from a simple conversation to now, fully serving low-income families to achieve lasting independence. Family Promise works with many other local agencies, schools, churches, and businesses to decrease child homelessness. If you are financially struggling or know a family who is, get in touch with Family Promise of Pickens County at (864) 644-8828 or stop by the office today at 104 Stewart Drive in Easley. Leadership Pickens County is a 9-month program designed to help develop informed and committed leaders of Pickens County through monthly full-day sessions in different sectors within the county. Part of the program also involves a community project and this year, the class chose Family Promise as their project. They put a new roof on the outside patio, paved it, built outside furniture, rebuilt the playground area, built a new inside storage space, and so much more. Class XXXII was able to finish this before May 1st. For questions on LPC or to enroll in the next class, call the chamber office at (864) 859-2693. Lastly, before it all wrapped up, our Young Professionals Steering Committee, had a special surprise for our soon-to-retire President, Cindy Hopkins. Cindy Hopkins has been the chamber president for the last 12 years and has tremendously built the Easley Chamber to be what it is today. Her unwavering support and dedication paved the road for there to be an Easley-Powdersville Young Professionals. To show our gratitude, the Young Professionals Steering Committee gifted her flowers, a digital frame, and an engraved coffee board courtesy of Amanda McGinty- State Farm Insurance Agent, Gilstrap Roofing, and McCurley Leather Works. Next social: Friday, June 14, 2024, from 8:30 AM to 9:30 AM at Eggs Up Grill. Breakfast will be sponsored by Amanda McGinty- State Farm Insurance Agent.
