AnMed Economic Impact Report

Economic impact report: AnMed generates more than $1 billion annually for the regional economy

A new independent economic impact analysis shows AnMed is not only a leading healthcare provider but also one of the region’s most significant economic drivers, generating more than $1 billion in annual economic activity across Upstate South Carolina and northeast Georgia.

The study, conducted by Hanover Research, found that AnMed supports thousands of jobs throughout the region while contributing hundreds of millions of dollars in household income that strengthens local businesses, communities and families.

“As one of the region’s largest employers, AnMed’s impact extends far beyond the patients we serve,” said William Kenley, chief executive officer of AnMed. “Strong healthcare systems are essential to strong local economies. These findings demonstrate that when AnMed invests in healthcare access, workforce development and community health, the entire region benefits.”

Strengthening the regional economy
The report highlights AnMed’s role as a major contributor to economic growth and stability through:
•    Supporting thousands of direct and indirect jobs throughout the region
•    Generating more than $1 billion in annual economic activity
•    Contributing hundreds of millions of dollars in household income
•    Investing in workforce development to address critical healthcare staffing needs
•    Expanding access to healthcare services across the region
•    Partnering with schools, businesses and community organizations to strengthen local communities

Investing in a healthier, stronger workforce
The analysis also underscores the connection between healthcare access and economic success. By improving access to care, providing millions of dollars in uncompensated care and supporting community health initiatives, AnMed helps create the conditions that allow businesses and employees to thrive.

As employers across the region continue to compete for talent, access to high-quality healthcare remains a critical factor in workforce recruitment, retention and quality of life.
